Kuaitu Express - Poster

Kuaitu Express (月兔快运航空股份公司) - 8K/YTU - is a Chinese low-cost carrier based in Xi'an. Although its full Chinese name means "Moon Rabbit Express", it has adopted a short-form name in Chinese - Fast Rabbit, or somewhat more poetically, Rabbit Express (Kuaitu). The airline is known for its cheap, no-frills service and its Wechat-only booking system, bypassing expensive web hosting services and travel agents, as well as its notorious delays and mediocre service. Kuaitu was granted permission by the CAAC in early 2010, allowing the airline to start flights out of its Xi'an base. Despite its roots in Shaanxi, the airline has eleven hubs and over twenty focus cities all over the People's Republic, and launched its first foray into international flights to Korea and Thailand in 2018. The airline experienced astronomical growth in its first decade, reaching a fleet size of 120, and placed an order for 108 Boeing 737 MAX jets in 2019.

The airline was hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, and now operates a comparatively small non-stored leased fleet of 61 in and out of its hubs at a somewhat reduced scale. This fleet mainly consists of Boeing 737NGs, with a small number of Classic -300s to be replaced by its growing fleet of Chinese-built ARJ21 regional jets.
