Black Draped 8's - Boeing 747-8F

Black Draped 8's - Boeing 747-8F

From 2011 onwards, Raines Air experienced a decade of massive and rapid growth. Shortly after the merger with Global Aviation Holdings, they placed an order for 9 new Boeing 747-8Fs and 4 777Fs. These would replace older 747-400Fs and fully replace the remaining 747-200s, which were retired a year later. The 747-8F was scheduled to enter service with Cargolux later that year and the air cargo industry was abuzz with news of the freight behemoth.

The airline would take delivery of the first 747-8F on January 4th, 2013, registered N854RI. The aircraft was the first to carry the airline's new livery, which brought back the classic black and orange color scheme. Around the same time, Nathan Raines would step down as CEO after 11 years. The new CEO, Pravin Khosla, was elected by shareholders in August. N854RI still flies for the company today.
