MD-11(CF)

MD-11(CF)

MD11(CF) of the Ecuadorian company ECUADOR CARGO.
It left the McDonnell Douglas factory on February 2, 1991 for the Italian national airline Alitalia, and was delivered on August 19 of the same year at Rome Fiumicino airport after having obtained its FAA certification. It made its first commercial flight on 24 August on the Rome - New York route in 09 hours and 27 minutes with 278 passengers on board.
It was sold to the British company UK International Transport in May 2004. It was sent to Colorado a few weeks later to be converted into a Combi in order to be more versatile. Unfortunately UK International Transport stopped operations on 11 May 2005. The aircraft was sold to Ecuadorian company Ecuador Cargo on 2nd September 2005. The aircraft arrived at Quito airport a few months later. After a short stay in the company's hangars to transform it into a cargo aircraft, it was used again on November 7th on the flight from Quito to Miami.
During the flight from San Salvador to Campinas on June 19th 2009, the aircraft was damaged by a fire in a package that occurred on board shortly after take-off. The crew declared an emergency and landed the aircraft a few minutes later without further problems. The aircraft was grounded for 2 months for repairs.
After 30 years of flying around the world, HC-CFK landed for the last time in December 2021 at Mojave Airport in California for dismantling.
