HZ-JOA was built in 2006, and was initially delivered to BIAS Belarusian Airlines (Minsk, Belarus) on a 10 year contract, registered as EW-8731BI. By 2016, it was returned to National Aviation Leasing and Banking Company (Shenzhen, China) and entered storage for five years in Alice Springs (YBAS) before Rihla signed a contract for the aircraft, which was reregistered to HZ-JOA, and was ferried to Medina so that proving flights could take place.
