- Album Raines Air Systems: A Complete History
The DC-8 had a long, honorable career at Raines for years. But soon, it was going to end.
The DC-8-62 variant was planned to be the first to go. It couldn’t carry as much as the 63 variant and thus was less economical. It was soon replaced by the 73. This variant was just as long as the 63 with new, fuel efficient CFM56 engines. These would be the last DC-8s operated by the airline.
The first arrived in 1988 as N815RI. It had previously flown for Flying Tigers and Cargolux before it ended up with Raines. It was retired in 1994 and was sold to UPS and subsequently DHL/Astar Air Cargo. It was broken up at CVG in 2015.
Yess !! DC8 it's a legend , very nice job
