The Airbus A321neo was chosen by Air Mandarin to serve alongside, and slowly replace the carrier's Boeing 737-800s, which entered service in 2001. Executives were impressed by the aircraft's capabilities, from the increased range, to its new, more fuel-efficient Pratt and Whitney power plants. The aircraft's aforementioned increased range enabled the airline to begin flights to new, medium-demand routes such as Mumbai, as well as seasonal deployment to regional routes.
