Air Mandarin | Boeing 777-309(ER)

Air Mandarin | Boeing 777-309(ER)

Airline management unveiled a new livery at the end of 2018 as the culmination of a 10-year point-by-point plan to revamp the airline's brand image and services after increased competition from another major Taiwanese carrier heightened over the past few years. The new livery included two new shades of blue/purple, as well as a new plum blossom logo, departing from the watercolor one used prior. The new livery also saw the departure of the cheatline underneath the windows and a font replacement.

The Boeing 777-300ER was chosen as the first aircraft to wear the new livery because of its deployment to many cities across Asia, Europe, and the United States. This was also to mark the airline's shift in strategy, as the phasing out of the 747-400s was commencing, and the replacement aircrafts (777-300ERs and A350-900s) were coming in. The airline's narrowbody fleet, predominantly 737-800s, were also to be replaced in the mid-2020s by the A321neo. Aside from this, a new hard product (new seats and cabins) as well as soft product (customer experience, food, etc) was rolled out.
