1982 was the dawn of a very short lived period during which the brand new Boeing 747-300 was Himmelbahn's flagship supplanting earlier 747 models on the airline's most prestigious routes. However, this period was very short lived due to the 747-400's announcement as a substantially superior aircraft. Nonetheless, Himmelbahn's 747-300s operated steadfastly for years even after the privatization and most spotters associate the 743 with the Discovogel livery more than any other airframe. Otto Von Bismark, pictured above, was the second of 2 747-300s delivered to Himmelbahn before 3 747-300Ms joined the fleet in 1984. The last 747 to be delivered to Himmelbahn before the privatization and transition away from aircraft named after historical figures was Friedrich der Große.
[Edit: Big Dummyhead forgot to paint the engines]
This is great! Love the 747-300!
