7. Vanguard Airlines 747-400 "2002-2013"

After the dark chapter of 2001 came to an end, and the airline was recovering from the sucker punch that was 9/11, tough and painful actions had to be taken to keep the airlines flying. With no exception, Vanguard Airlines was hit hard by the industry climate that followed, and after some business changes had been made and the company had repositioned itself for the future, the airline would begin to rebound in the fall of 2002. With everybody at the company working towards the common goal of ensuring the airlines survival, Vanguard returned to profitability. That November, Vanguard would choose to refresh its brand image, which it had maintained since 1989. The remodeled brand was designed in association with Pentagram to revive the airline's image, while maintaining connected with its treasured and historic past.

The revised livery would feature many aspects from previous eras, such as the vast areas of deep greens in the "Tri-Color V" format, while also reviving the gold that had been prominent in the pre-jet era of the airline, signifying the bright future that Vanguard had in front of it.

As with the previous livery, the first aircraft to bear the new look was the company's flagship, it's first 747-400. N1210V was painted at the facilities in Amarillo, Texas, and then ferried to Memphis for the grand unveiling. After the Public Relations events had completed, the 747 returned to service, departing Memphis with VG001 to Amsterdam. Vanguard's entire fleet would be repainted by the end of 2004.

Vanguard Airlines, Welcome Aboard.

Authors note: It's been several years coming, but I've finally managed to revise the 2000s livery to a point that I like. I hope you enjoy it :) I'll probably be doing a few more aircraft up in this look soon.

love the colour scheme and that logo, and I really like the livery - The cheatlines are beautiful, and the subtle grey stripes on the tail look great. Happy to see the Green Machines back!
