General Electric Boeing 747-121 - N747GE

General Electric Boeing 747-121 - N747GE

To start off the album, I wanted to cover the biggest aircraft I've seen up close.

N747GE started off it's career at Pan Am. It first flew in March 1970 and was the 25th 747 built. Intially, It was named Clipper Star of the Union before being renamed to Clipper Ocean Spray. When the Gulf War broke out, the aircraft had a yellow rosette painted near it's cockpit windows to show support for the troops.

After Pan Am collapsed in 1991, General Electric acquired the aircraft in 1992. GE used the aircraft to test out it's new engine technologies, most notably the GEnx. In 2018, GE retired the aircraft and donated it to the Pima Air and Space Museum on November 15th of that year.

This is the aircraft pictured by me on January 16th, 2021.

On the 747GE, the shadow made it look glossy, I would try to lower the intensity of the shadow to emulate its IRl matte finish.

The yellow is also a little too green to my taste.

But it's an interesting subject and you did a pretty decent job recreating it. Well done.

*Last time I saw this in person in PHX it was still wearing the red stripe livery testing the old GE90
