Air New Zealand Lockheed L-188C Electra

The famous Electra! These aircraft were originally ordered and operated by TEAL (Tasman Empire Airlines Limited) starting from 1959 and would see TEAL become Air New Zealand in their lifetimes. They were retired in 1972, with this particular one, ZK-TEA retiring from the fleet on 1 June 1972. ZK-TEA was the first Electra in the fleet. This particular iteration of the TEAL/Air New Zealand livery represented here would be the final one this one wore.

ZK-TEA: 1959 Lockheed L-188C Electra | Air New Zealand | Currently: Mostly scrapped, however the nose section was saved and was (or is, I'm not 100% sure) being restored in Christchurch to be put on display at the Ferrymead Museum.

Tomorrow, prepare for a different airline!

    great !
