The Boeing 737 family is Yangtze's short haul backbone. Since its founding in 1989, Yangtze has operated the 737 family, starting with the Boeing 737-400. In 2003, Yangtze started to operate the Boeing 737 Next Generation family, with a Boeing 737-800 placed in service with the Chengdu branch. Today, the 737 family makes up the largest percentage of Yangtze's fleet, with 22 Boeing 737-700, 104 Boeing 737-800, and 16 Boeing 737-900ER jets in service. All of Yangtze's 737-700s and most of 737-800s have been retrofitted in the past few years with blended winglets, and a few 737-800s and the 737-900ER fleet have been updated with split scimitars for maximum efficiency. These short haul jets are stationed in every Yangtze hub except for Shanghai (which operates the A320 family), and can be found on a variety of routes.
