Airbus A320neo New England Airlines (2022 - )
What came as a surprising announcement to many in 2019, New England Airlines formally announced their move to decrease their order of the Boeing 737 MAX in light of the investigations into the safety of the airframe following the crashes of two 737 MAX 8 aircraft, and general quality control allegations regarding the MAX airliners. Filling the gap would be an order of 30 Airbus A320neo aircraft, and 30 Airbus A321neo aircraft, with flex options to include an additional 30 of both types, as a result of investigative outcomes. The shock came in part because of the historic partnership the airline had with Boeing and McDonnell Douglas throughout the course of its operational lifetime, as this was the first time in the airline's history that Airbus narrowbodies would fly for the once all-Boeing airline.
In addition to this, these new Airbus aircraft would arrive painted in NEA's new 2022 livery, first unveiled during the 2020 coronavirus pandemic. A fresh, simplistic, yet symbolic livery representing the resurgence of commercial aviation post-pandemic, as well as a new look for the forthcoming decade of new travel.
The first Airbus A320neo will be delivered to New England Airlines in February of 2022, while the first A321neo will arrive later in April 2022.
