In 2000 the Airline undertook a rebranding process attempting to modernize their dated brand image. Simplifying the livery heavily. The cabin was also retrofitted on their aging fleet in attempt to get Brazilians to fly internationally again. In December of 2000 the airline reinstated flights to New York JFK and Houston. In February of 2001 they returned to flying to London although now flying to Gatwick due to loosing their highly sought after Heathrow slots. After struggling to keep cargo operations a part of mainline operations it was eventually separated into SAB Cargo in June of 2001. In 2002 in a desperate attempt to add their weak domestic presence SAB ordered a new fleet of Airbus A320-200 and A321-200 aircraft to replace the airlines aging fleet of MD-83's. The Airline also opened a crew base in Fortaleza and announced it as a new focus city.
The AIrline would move on to be the official carrier for the Brazilian Soccer team in the 2002 world cup flying the countries team to the championship.
In 2005 SAB would move on to retire the A300 from their fleet in favor for the airlines newly leased A330-300/200 aircraft that provided them with much better fuel economy. SAB would also fully retire the MD-83 and announce their plans to replace their last fifteen MD-11 passenger aircraft with 777-200LR's by the end of 2011.
In March 2007 the airline had somewhat returned to their feet, Operating a fleet of modern used aircraft. The airline positioned themselves to modernize their fleet in the coming years and placed pre-orders for the Airbus A350
After Boeings confirmation of a new Re-Engined 737 series in 2011 SAB placed a order for the 737 Max 8 and 9 aircraft.
Deeply in love with the national team livery
