With Italiana Regionale building deeper roots in Milan Linate, came the need for more efficient regional aircraft. With a dozen ATR 72-210s in the fleet at the time, the recently approved ATR 72-212A conversion caught Italiana's eye. Management saw opportunity in the new upgraded version, hoping to be able to defer the impending ATR retirement. With the recent delivery of both the Embraer E170 and E190, the ATR's ongoing stay at Italiana wasn't believed to be much longer at the carrier. Operating a total of 16 ATR 42-400s, and an additional 12 ATR 72-200s, Italiana used the turboprop fleet to connect regional destinations throughout rural Italy.
The first ATR 72-212A conversation took place in late 2010, with subsequent conversions happening throughout 2011. By 2012, all 12 ATR 72-210s were converted to the new ATR 72-212As, then known as the ATR 72-600. The fleet of aircraft stayed with Italian until 2018, before incoming Airbus A220 delivers pushed the E170s to begin replacing the type. The ATR 72 fleet combined served over 50 unique destinations over their time in the fleet, and kept a very clean record for incidents. The final retirement of the ATR 72-600 is predicted for 2023, but is yet to be confirmed by Italiana executives.
Quite simple, but that ain't a bad thing at all. This is pretty neat.

We have very fine bathrooms in the back of our ATR72's, maintained to the highest quality. Better than those portuguese over at LAP
