Several promotional campaigns had been launched to showcase the nation holding the exhibition as well as the national airline Kazakh Airlines launching a special livery promoting being the "Official Carrier of the 2017 Astana Expo".
The expo being held in Astana was focused around future energy and on practical and innovative energy solutions and their impact, being the first time a major exhibition like this had been hosted in any country from the former soviet union this was a big deal to the nation, and set to impress is what they did, 62 acres of pavilions where built to host the exhibition. Kazakhstan as a nation stated they intend to put great focus on replacing natural resources to renewable energy in a bid to lower pollution to the environment.
Kazakh Airlines being the official air carrier of the 2017 Expo announced that their goal over the next 8 years was to introduce a new more economical fleet of aircraft, aircraft with lower fuel emissions and better economics to lower their carbon footprint. Kazakh Airlines also trialed a sustainable fuel namely SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) by replacing part of the fossil jet fuel to lower emissions and focus on sustainability at its core for the future. This is something Kazakh Airlines continues to be dedicated too, introducing packaging on may of the airlines amenities and products with recyclable alternatives, replacing onboard equipment with new lower weight alternatives e.g. Food Carts, as well as many other measures to reduce fuel consumption and begin to offer a more sustainable operation and airline.
