In 2017 Kazakhstan was set to hold the world expo in Astana the first time the nation had held the expo as well as the first nation in Central Asia to do so, the country setup huge preparations in preparing the city of Astana ready to host the visitors coming for the Expo. Kazakh Airlines also trialed a sustainable fuel namely SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) by replacing part of the fossil jet fuel to lower emissions and focus on sustainability at its core for the future. This is something Kazakh Airlines continues to be dedicated too, introducing packaging on may of the airlines amenities and products with recyclable alternatives, replacing onboard equipment with new lower weight alternatives e.g. Food Carts, as well as many other measures to reduce fuel consumption and begin to offer a more sustainable operation and airline.
