Kazakh Airlines took delivery of their first Boeing 777-200LR in 2008 which proved to be a busy year for the airline, with the introduction of new Boeing 737-800's the delivery of the new Boeing 777-200LR, retirement of the Boeing 747-400M and conversion of two of the 747's into freighters to operate for Kazakh Airlines new subsidiary Kazakh Air Freight the airline saw a lot of changes.

Four Boeing 777-200LR's would enter service with Kazakh Airlines opposed to the three Boeing 747's it would be replacing, with the types impressive range, large cargo capacity and updated cabin it enabled Kazakh Airlines to compete with rival airlines in terms of product and routes albeit on a much smaller scale, the 777 was deployed on the airlines routes to New York and Sydney followed later by Melbourne and for a brief period Kazakh Airlines began services to Los Angeles, however this route would not last proving to not be as successful as the airline had hoped.

Delivery of both 777-200LR's came in 2008 and would operate for the airline until 2019 when the type would be replaced as part of Kazakh Airlines modernization program, both types would also be fitted with onboard Wi-Fi and receive cabin updates over the years, it would operate in a three class configuration Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy. The type would also sport a special livery introduced in 2012 as part of Kazakh Airlines and Kazakhstan's initiative to increase tourism to the nation and promote the country.
