Kazakh Airlines took delivery of their first Boeing 737-800 in 2008 relieving the pressure on the airlines fleet network and giving Kazakh Airlines the opportunity to launch new routes the first of which was Dubai followed by Abu Dhabi and Doha as Kazakh Airlines tried to expand into the middle east serving the countries Islamic community among the launch of many other routes primarily to Eastern Europe and the Central Asian region.

Kazakh Airlines had initially planned to introduce the Boeing 737-800 into the fleet in the early 2000's, however due to finances the airline focused on a fleet that would best serve the airlines route network at that time alongside a fleet that would be effective for the airlines proposed expansion during that time, despite this Kazakh Airlines still planned on introducing the type into the fleet however it wouldn't be for a further 6 years before the type would enter the fleet.

The 737-800 would operate for the airline until 2018 when Kazakh Airlines began a large scale fleet renewal initiative, the entire fleet of 737-800's would be retrofitted with Scimitar winglets and onboard Wi-Fi.
