Aerolíneas Dominicanas del Oriente | 1990 | Boeing 707-320B

Aerolíneas Dominicanas del Oriente

AIRFRAME - Boeing 707-320B

REGISTRATION - HI-369DO

BASE - Punta Cana International Airport [PUJ]

The first of the two airframes to join the fleet, came from American Overseas Airways (AOA). The pair of 707-320Bs were both recently retired both in 1984, were placed in long term storage in the states as AOA looked for a second-hand buyer. In 1987, AOA began to expand it's search for new buyers for it's idle 707-320B fleet. Aerolíneas Dominicanas del Oriente approached AOA, requesting the lease of two ex-AOA 707s for a term of 4 years. After AOA conducted background checks on the new carrier, lawyers exchanged documents and two 707s were signed over to ADO. Santiago Pérez had enough remaining cash from the funding to repaint one of the two 707s, leaving the second one wearing the AOA livery with removed branding. The second 707 was repainted in 1990, after a successful year in 1989.
