Kazakh Airlines - TU-134

Kazakh Airlines

IATA - KZ

ICAO - KZA

Callsign - KAZAKH

Tupolev TU-134A

UN-85134

As with the majority of Kazakh Airlines soviet jetliner fleet, the Tupolev TU-134 was also inherited from Poletavia after Kazakh Airlines became independent. The versatility, reliability and performance of the TU-134 was perfect for Kazakh Airlines large domestic route network, though while a vast majority of flights remained operational in the domestic market, a few routes did operate to nations neighboring Kazakhstan into their smaller regional airports.

Kazakh Airlines operated a large fleet of TU-134's and they formed the backbone for their domestic network and proved integral in playing a role connecting passengers onto Kazakh's new long haul flights (launched in the mid-90's) and connecting passengers to and from regional parts of Kazakhstan with flights operating in and around central Asia and Russia. Both the Tupolev TU-134A & TU-134B where operated by Kazakh Airlines, with the final aircraft retired in 2001 after the airline moved towards a newer more economical fleet of western built airliners.
