Capitol Airlines | Airbus A220-300

Capitol Airlines was formed in 1961 as DC Airways, a small airline operating propeller-driven aircraft from Washington National Airport to small airports in the Mid-Atlantic region. The carrier expanded throughout the region during the 1970s, and after deregulation of the US airline industry introduced shuttle services to other major cities along the East Coast using DC-9 and MD-80 aircraft. In the early 1990s, the company rebranded as Capitol Airlines to reflect its expansion beyond just serving the D.C. area while still acknowledging its roots and primary focus of operations. Eventually, the company expanded into charter operations with a fleet of 757 aircraft and later began scheduled transcontinental and transatlantic services from Dulles Airport during the 2010s.

After operating the DC-9 and its derivatives (MD-80, MD-90, 717) as the backbone of its fleet for over 50 years, Capitol placed an order in 2016 for 30 Bombardier C-Series jets and took delivery of its first example (by then renamed the Airbus A220) in 2018. The new type has enabled the carrier to improve efficiency on its northeastern shuttle routes and expand its small, but growing, transcontinental operations from Dulles Airport (due to continued slot restrictions at Reagan National Airport).

Just an old brand I decided to dig up and tweak a little :D

Thanks to Blonde Bird for the improved template.
