Botswana Airways | Embraer E135

In 2010, Cape Airways expressed interest in purchasing the ailing airline Botswanair which was based in the neighboring country of Botswana. After extensive negotiations, Cape reached an agreement with Botswanan investors and acquired a stake in the company. Botswanair was rebranded as Botswana Airways to better align with Cape Airways, and the airline's operations were integrated with those of Cape. Additionally, the airline's fleet of ageing turboprops was replaced with two ERJ-135 jets (transferred from Cape Airways) which provide a better passenger experience and offer greater range - essential for the long distances which need to be covered in Southern Africa.

The new Botswana Airways livery was greatly simplified in comparison to the previous scheme, but retained the zebra pattern on the tail (as a nod to Botswana's national animal) and the old Botswanair zebra logo alongside the Cape Airways logo by the passenger boarding door.
