PNA McDonnell Douglas MD-95

What began in 1983 as a design study into a new DC-9 variant, the DC-9-90, was reborn in early 1991 as the MD-87-105 and formally launched at the 1991 Paris Airshow as the MD-95 program.

After the MD-95's launch customer, ValuJet, pulled out of the program in 1995. McDonnell Douglas sent a touching letter to PNA, reaffirming their commitment not only to the MD-95 program but to PNA. This letter was signed by 19 executives at the Long Beach company. On the 19th of October 1995, McDonnell Douglas CEO Henry Stonecipher and PNA CEO Grant Saville signed a historic agreement for PNA to aquire 50 McDonnell Douglas MD-95s with options for another 50.

Here's N095MD, the MD-95 test aircraft in the period correct PNA livery.
