Northern Douglas DC-10-40 1981-1990

The 1980’s saw the introduction of multiple new planes into the fleet of Northern. Including the brand new 767 and 757 Northern ordered both for their domestic operations. The planes were added into the Executive Class of planes operated by Northern alongside the DC-10-40’s already operated by Northern. The 1980’s also saw Northern purchase the 737 Classic generation. Northern would base much of their domestic operations off of the 737-300 and 737-500 to boost their already strong operations using the 727 family of aircraft.

At the end of 1986 Northern separated their cargo division into its own separate airline. Adding the 747 freighter and DC-8 Freighter. Northern cargo would operate as a subsidiary of Northern airlines.
