One of Pacific West's very first aircraft was a former war bird this Douglas DC-4 was delivered a few years after the war ended after it was converted to a passenger aircraft, these planes were a common sight on the 'Seattle - Vancouver shuttle' service before being displaced to other routes by the DC-7 and Electra in the future. The airline operated only 4 DC-4s until 1957 when they got replaced by new state of the art Lockheed L-188A Electras and upgraded Convair CV-580s by then the only piston engined aircraft left in the fleet was a handful of DC-7s and Convair CV-340s.
