1-3 | Sierra Pacific | Douglas DC-9-10 | 1965-1974

The DC-9 Series, specifically the DC-9-10, would become Sierra Pacific’s second domestic workhorse throughout their regional expansion across the Pacific Coast during the early ‘70s. The DC-9-10 would remain a valuable asset for the airline for shorter, medium routes, especially with the establishment of a hub in Seattle in the late ‘70s. The DC-9-10 would commonly be seen flying within the Pacific Northwest to various cities. Usage of the DC-9-10 would begin to decline in the mid to late ‘80s with the introduction of the Boeing 737 Classic series, with many orders for the type being inherited from Sierra Pacific’s merger with SonoranWest Airlines in 1984. The DC-9-10 would begin to see its flight hours be moved over to more and more seasonal routes to the Rockies and Mexico until it’s inevitable retirement in 1993.
