1-2 | Sierra Pacific | Hawker Siddeley HS748 | 1965-1974

Sierra Pacific would see great growth and regional expansion in the years following its founding in 1965. Much of this early regional expansion would be fueled in part by the airline’s acquisition of the Hawker Siddeley HS748 in 1966. The HS748 would be mainly deployed on regional flights within California and to less serviced areas in the Pacific Northwest, along with flying frequent shuttle services between San Francisco and cities like Sacramento. The HS748 would serve well with the airline, helping to grow its regional presence until it was eventually replaced in purpose by the Fokker F28 in the mid to late ‘70s. One HS748 remains restored and on display at Sierra Pacific’s Flight History Center in San Francisco.
