After discerning the expenses of beginning a Boeing 747 fleet, 6 747SPs would come in 1976 and 1977 to supplement the 747-100 fleet on routes to Hawaii and compliment the DC-10s. With longer range, these aircraft would inaugurate the first non-stop flights to Hawaii, operating flights from Dallas and Houston 2 of the 4 days a week the routes were flown. the 747SP remained in operation until 1984, when the entire 747 fleet was phased out in favor of increased frequencies of smaller aircraft, and additional DC-10-30s for long range service.
N774TX is named for the City of San Antonio.
Aww, so cute! Sutter's Balloon look great in this livery!

So iconic
I don't like companies that limit themselves by name I can't imagine Texas Air Lines based on JFK or LAX
Alaska Airlines is based in Seattle, Washington.
I never would've imagined this on a 747, especially not an SP and there's a reason why.
