Boeing 777-300ER Aquila Airlines

Aquila Airlines (pronounced ah-keel-uh) is a major United states airline based out of Phoenix, Arizona. The airline was founded in August, 1929, as Southwestern Air Mail Transport, flying Lockheed Vegas across the Southwestern United States, hauling mail and cargo. It started carrying passengers in 1935, and changed its name to Aquila Air Transport in that same year, and to Aquila Airlines in 1944.

The airline has kept its iconic "Star Eagle" as its logo since the very beginning of its existence - even before it changed its name, with minimal changes. The logo and the name come from the constellation Aquila, which is located on the celestial equator, and represents the bird which carried Zeus/Jupiter's thunderbolts in Greek/Roman mythology. Aquila is also Latin for "eagle".

The Boeing 777 has been with the airline since its introduction, with the airline being one of the aircraft's launch customers in 1995. Since then, Aquila Airlines has operated the 777-200, -200ER, and the -300ER. The 777-300ERs will replace the airline's 747-400s, alongside the 747-8I and, potentially, the 777-9, should the airline decide to go ahead with its 777X order.
