Ansett A320-211 Livery Poster

Ansett Australia, formerly Ansett ANA, was a major Australian domestic and international carrier serving Australians from 1936 to 2001. It operated a fleet of Boeing 737s, 767s and Airbus A320s on domestic services, with Boeing 747-400s leased from Singapore Airlines for their international services to Asia.
Ansett’s 20 strong fleet of the Airbus jet was marketted as the Ansett Skystar

VH-HYA was the first Ansett Skystar delivered, the 22nd Airbus A320 produced and the first of the -200 series. Serving with the Ansett fleet from delivery in 1988, it wore 3 of the airline’s notable schemes; Southern Cross, Flag and Starmark.

HYA stayed with the Airline till it’s initial collapse shortly after the tragic events of September 11, 2001. It was then placed into short term storage at Brisbane Airport.
Just 1 month later, HYA was back in the air, flying under the Ansett Mk II service.

Alas, Ansett Mk II did not survive and on March 4, 2002, VH-HYA operated one of the final revenue services for Ansett Australia from Melbourne to Sydney, before being placed into short term storage at Melbourne.

HYA was eventually sold, re-registered as N220AN, then going onto Portuguese airline HiFly and Air Luxor. Finally, in 2008, after 20 years of faithful service, HYA, C/N 22 was scrapped at Lake Charles Regional Airport.
