Expansion into North America

Expansion into North America

In May 2009, a pair of Airbus A330-200 aircraft (CS-TOI and CS-TOJ) were leased from Portuguese airline SAPSA for the commencement of thrice-weekly transatlantic service from Zagreb to New York City and Toronto. Initially planned as seasonal routes scheduled only for the peak summer period, the airline's first-ever long-haul routes became year-round after becoming increasingly popular with flyers, with average load factors consistently at or above 90 percent. A codeshare agreement with JetBlue Airways would be established in 2010 to allow for greater connectivity with other U.S. cities through JetBlue's operating base at New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport.
