- Album РОССФЛОТ
РОССФЛОТ's turboprop fleet in the 1960s and 1970s consisted of the Antonov-24, and the Ilyushin-18 aircraft.
The An-24 was procured to replace aging Il-14 and older Li-2 aircraft that were operating on short-haul routes. These brought faster, pressurized service to remote areas in the northern and eastern Soviet Unioin. They were supplemented by Yak-40 aircraft as well, on longer legs.
The Il-18 was the first aircraft РОССФЛОТ used to get to western Europe. These aircraft offered speed and comfort and were frequent visitors in London, Paris, Madrid, and other western cities. A showcase of Soviet engineering, these would serve Europe until the Tu-154 came along in the 1970s, where they would be sent to serve the eastern USSR until the late 80s.
