In 2017, SunWest introduced the 737-8 MAX into its fleet. 16% more fuel efficient than its predecessor, SunWest decided to market the new aircraft by painting one of the 737 MAX aircraft in a fresh Green livery. Named the Ecoliner, the jet flew for barely a year before being grounded by the FAA in 2019. The parking fees at Victorville have made this aircraft anything but an 'Ecoliner'.
