Mid-late 2000s: More expansion

In 2004 Air Hanoi became the first Vietnamese airline to obtain membership in the International Air Transport Association (IATA). That same year, a pair of Airbus A330-200s were leased from ILFC to supplement the existing fleet of Boeing 767s. 2006 saw the addition of year-round service to Busan, Kaohsiung, Luang Prabang, Munich, and Siem Reap as well as seasonal charter service to Yekaterinburg. To take advantage of the growing popularity of air travel between Vietnam and Australia, the airline launched nonstop routes from Hanoi to Sydney, Ho Chi Minh City to Melbourne, and Ho Chi Minh City to Sydney in 2009.
