During the summer of 1992, Russian International Airlines took delivery of its first Boeing 767-200ER. A total of twelve were ordered, being delivered before the end of 1993 - the first one, VP-BEA (named after poet Alexander Pushkin) is shown here. They were outfitted with 24 First Class seats and 195 Economy seats, and intended to quickly replace Il-86s and provide widebody service to important destinations. The aircraft was debuted on the Moscow Sheremetyevo to Tokyo Narita route, and went on to operate flights to New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New Delhi, Hong Kong, Singapore, and other cities. However, despite initial success, as RIA took delivery of 767-300ERs and other aircraft with greater capacity than the -200, all 767-200ERs were phased out between 1998 and 2000.Posted Image
