Hellenic began the new decade with its introduction of the all-new Series 40 DC8 Jetliners, delivering flagship comfort and luxury on capital routes from Athens.

Some of the fleet of Series 40 DC-8s were later to be converted to Series 50 aircraft, with JT3D turbojets in place of the preceding Conways.
