3. Vanguard Airlines Boeing 707-320B "1965-1970"

With the success of the previous 707-120B, Vanguard was looking to the future with an initial order of 5 Boeing 707-320B "Intercontinentals" for reinforcing it's claim on domestic routes in the United States, and extending its reach to the Hawaiian islands. This paved the way for the foundation of its Pacific based Micronesia subsidiary, and it's extensive work as a Vietnam War charter service. With the original 707 inaugurating Memphis to New York, the airline took the opportunity to add nonstop jet service between New York's LaGuardia airport and their other focus of operations, Houston. Shortly after, the airline would introduce new jet 707 service on Houston-Kansas City, New Orleans-New York, Washington D.C. to New York, Houston to Washington D.C, Memphis to Las Vegas, and finally Memphis to Miami, giving Vanguard the most nonstop jet routes in the nation prior to 1966. With the introduction of Hawaii service, Vanguard would transition from a southeast/southwest regional carrier to a true, global airline. The 707-320B would remain in service until 1977, when the last airframe was donated to Chicago's O'hare airport for use as a fire trainer.
