Deutsche Hanseatic McDonnell-Douglas MD-11 Combi "1984-2002"

Following the expansion of the airline in the 1990s post reunification of Germany, Hanseatic would begin to permanently establish it's sought after Berlin hub at TXL airport. In 1984 the airline would rebrand and refresh it's livery, opting for a bright "Yellow top" livery to symbolize a new future. It would retain this look until post 9/11 era aviation would force the company to reorganize and refresh again. In 1991, the airline would acquire the McDonnell-Douglas MD-11, both to expand its network and replace aging and problematic Douglas DC-10s. Hanseatic operated both the standard passenger variant, as well as the combination freighter/passenger aircraft as pictured here. Hanseatic would later operate the MD-11F and convert a fair number of passenger MD-11s to serve it's cargo division. The last MD-11F was retired in 2021.
D-ALMW is named for Mönchengladbach and bears its coat of arms.
