The Boeing 727-200 was the backbone of Nihon's domestic fleet, flying on Nihon's trunk routes during off-peak hours, connecting smaller cities to Nihon's main hubs in Tokyo and Osaka, and operating out of smaller hubs in Fukuoka, Nagoya, Naha, and Sapporo. The Boeing 727 operated in Nihon's fleet until 1993, when it was replaced by a mix of Boeing 737 and 767 aircraft.
