Gulf Sky | 2015

Airline - Gulf Sky
Aircraft - Boeing 737-800 | A9-PGA
Delivered to Gulf Sky, 2015
Livery - Standard 2015
Country - Kingdom of Dhahran

In 2015, Qamar bin Aiman al Hamid - a Dhahrani finance executive with an estimated net worth of 400 million dollars - founded Gulf Sky, a low-cost carrier based in Ras Al Qua. With investments by several Dhahrani conglomerates, the LCC was born, taking delivery of three 737-800s that year. More were received in the following two years, creating a fleet of 15. Configured with 180 Economy Class seats, these 737s were used to launch routes initially to nearby destinations on the Arabian Peninsula, then to the Indian Subcontinent, then to various southern and eastern European destinations, the Maldives, and the Seychelles.

Disclaimer: This project is designed to look at the progression of aviation in a more-or-less generic fictional Middle Eastern state. The fictional Kingdom of Dhahran is located near the real Saudi Arabian city called Dhahran, but has no affiliation with it, and the name is a coincidence. Any other similarities to real people, locations, or situations may be intentional. I have zero knowledge of Arabic, so while I have spent considerable time trying to get it right, mistakes are possible, and any advice is greatly appreciated.
