Ex-American Airlines MD-83 at the Roswell Air Center Boneyard

Ex-American Airlines MD-83 at the Roswell Air Center Boneyard

N831RA is 1/6 of MD-83's Rainier Aviation Group has purchased from American Airlines that will help Rainier's rapid launch & expansion plans throughout the 2020's. By buying older cheap aircraft, Rainier can use those savings from not buying expensive new aircraft to offer a high-quality economy experience on their aircraft that includes free IFS and IFE. This specific MD-83 will go on to become Spirit of Rainier, the first aircraft to fly commercially for Rainier Air, which will be dry-leased from Rainier Aviation Group. All ex-AA MD-83's will fly from Roswell to Moses Lake, where Rainier Aerospace, a wholly-owned subsidy of Rainier Aviation Group, will complete interior retrofit work and aircraft repainting at their newly built Moses Lake Flight Center 2 facility. Rainier Aerospace will provide heavy maintenance & support for the Rainier MD-83 fleet, and will be buying MD-83 parts in bulk from Stewart Industries International LLC from Roswell, NM. Rainier intends on purchasing more ex-AA MD-83's down the line, as there are plenty at Roswell, but for now the number stands at 6. Rainier Air intends on flying MD-83's until at least 2030; maybe 2035, where they'll be able to wholly-purchase totally new aircraft.
