Lockheed L 1049G

Lockheed L 1049G

InterFrance's first trans-Atlantic airliner, acquired in 1953, it served non-stop Paris-New York, and Paris-Washington DC. These luxurious aircraft also boasted sleeper cabins for flights to South Africa, and flights to South America via Dakar. These aircraft were replaced by Boeing 707 aircraft in the late 1950s and early 1960s, relegating them to a backup role to fill in for mechanical issues, and then retirement in 1963.
