Azeri Airways | Tupolev Tu-154M | 4K-58107 | 1991-1996

Following the collapse of the Soviet Union, Azerbaijan was left with a surplus of aircraft, including over 50 Tu-154s and 35 Tu-134s, as well as helicopters. With the political instablitiy and overall uncertainty of the first months after Azerbaijan's independence, there simply wasn't enough demand to justify such a fleet. The newly-established, government-owned Azeri Airways sold about 35 of the Tupolevs, no doubt helping it get off the ground.

The airline quickly expanded outside the former USSR nations, and under 6 months after its September 1991 foundation it began flights to Istanbul with the Tu-154M. Dubai, Tel Aviv, China and Eastern Europe followed, but the airline, essentially being a representation of the nation of Azerbaijan, wanted to distance itself from the Soviets, and be viewed as a solid option for travel. Its European expansion was performed with second-hand American jets, and almost every growth following its foundation was performed via Western planes. Nonetheless, the Tu-154 remained in the fleet until 2011, when it was replaced by 737s.

4K-58107 was one of the earliest Tu-154Ms built, flying for the first time in 1984. When in operation for Azeri it was one of the few featuring a 132-seater dual-class configuration, with 12 Business Class seats. This small subfleet would be the one flying to most international destinations. 107 was also the first of Azeri's Tu-154s to be replaced by the brand-new 737-800s in mid-2004.

it's good. would recommend adding some grey to the fuselage as this would be very fitting for the time but nevertheless, nice work.
