staraustralia | Airbus A320neo family | 2012-2021

staraustralia was a latecomer to the A320neo family, signing an MoU with Airbus for 150 aircraft in October 2014. However, the airline didn't firm up the order until next year's Paris Air Show. That consisted of 100 firm orders with the variants unspecified, and 50 purchase rights. In 2017 it was officially announced that staraustralia would be receiving 60 A320neos and 40 A321neos between 2019 and 2024. In September that year the order was converted to 53 A320neos and 47 A321neos, of which 10 were to be the longer-range A321LR. An additional 15 LRs were ordered, bringing their total numbers up to 25, and the total A320neo orders to 115.

The A320neo will be used to replace older A320s and A319s, some of which have been flying for over 20 years. With its improved fuel efficiency it will also help lower prices and increase revenue. The A321neos will enter service on longer routes, replacing A321s in service on them, as well as high-capacity routes, like the Sydney-Melbourne-Brisbane flights. The A321LR will be based in Perth, replacing A330s on routes to Southeast Asia and New Zealand so they can be placed on longer sectors, while the airline has also stated that it could help open up routes from secondary cities in Australia to Asia. The A320neos and A321neos no longer feature names because we ran out of bloody cities to name them after, but the A321LRs continue the A330 tradition of being named after long-haul destinations they fly to.

VH-SNA is staraustralia's first A320neo. It was delivered on April 18th, 2019 and entered service three days later, flying between Adelaide and Nadi. All A320neos feature an additional row of seats compared to their ceo counterparts, and are now able to carry up to 186 passengers.
VH-SUC will be the airline's third A321neo. It is due to be delivered in Q1 2020. Thanks to the ACF configuration, the A321neos can now carry 240 passengers, while seating innovations mean there is more physical space compared to the standard A321s.
VH-SLA is staraustralia's first A321LR, and it was delivered on June 9th, 2019. A first for the airline, this narrowbody comes equipped with the A330 interiors, as it will be flying up to 8 hour flights. The LRs feature 12 Premium Economy seats at a 38'' pitch and 186 Economy Class seats at a 31'' pitch. All seats feature IFE screens. The LRs can be distinguished from the regular A321neos as they are the only planes in the fleet to come with a racoon mask around the cockpit windows

I decided to bring this back yay. Also long description because I'm bored and I have nothing better to do with my life
