Throughout the 1970s, the Boeing 727 was the backbone of TransWest's major intercity routes throughout the Western states. The airline operated both the -100 and -200 versions of the Boeing tri-jet, and eventually both were replaced by the more modern and efficient 737 and MD-80 aircraft during the early 1980s. The last TransWest 727 was retired before the 1990s, a move that was rare among U.S. air carriers as most of them retained the type well into the 1990s and even the 21st century.

That is pretty cool.
