A return to the one-aircraft image... for now. Also, #nowindowshadegang.
-----------
Historically, the A330 and A340 were the long-haul aircraft for Nationair, especially pre-merger from Philadelphia and Miami. Post-merger, however, management in Cincinnati disliked their placement between Midwest's 767 and 777, and thus planned for their retirement after the introduction of the 787. When the 767 came to retirement age, however, this all shifted: the role for a proven and capable airframe below the 787 and A350 needed to be filled, and the solution was the 242-tonne A330-200 and A330-300.
Unlike their older, pre-merger cousins, these newer A330s would have GE CF6-80E1A3 engines instead of the older PW4168A's, but retained the parts commonality and economies of scale. As a result, these aircraft are the perfect fit to replace the ageing 767-300ERs and 767-400ERs and nail transatlantic and Latin American routes. Nationair's A330-200s (28 NationalONE, 23 NationalPremier, 36 Main Cabin Select, and 146 Main Cabin) and A330-300's (32 NationalONE, 28 NationalPremier, 40 Main Cabin Select, 162 Main Cabin) each have standardized configurations, in-line with the rest of the fleet.
This A330-203, N932NN, is a 242-tonne bird recently delivered to replace the 767-400ER. Currently, she's based in CVG, commonly seen on CVG-CDG and other TATL runs. Most notably, ship 2932 operated NT430, the inaugural service from CVG-FCO, a new summer-seasonal route for the airline.
