The first Lockheed L1011-500 was delivered in 1978 to supplement the existing fleet of -1 and -200 variant aircraft. With a smaller passenger capacity but increased range, it was used on longer routes to Asia and Africa, as well as occasionally for flights to North and South America. The specific L1011-500 shown here, G-AXBB, was the second to be delivered. It spend fourteen years with Royal Airways, flying mostly high-demand European routes in its last few years in the fleet, before being sold to a Malaysian low-cost carrier in 1992. Eight years later, in 2000, the aircraft found itself at Air Armenia, as the small country's new flagship, but tragically crashed on approach to Yerevan Zvartnots in 2006.

The Boeing 757-200 was delivered starting in the early 80s as a replacement for aging 707s and VC10s. They flew high-demand European and domestic routes, but were also deployed on some transatlantic flights, such as from Manchester, Newcastle, and Glasgow to New York, Boston, and Toronto. The 757 shown here, G-DLKS, joined the fleet in 1985 and flew with Royal Airways until 2007, when it was sold to Inter-African Airways, and eventually stored in Maputo after the carrier's bankruptcy.
