1947 | DC-6

Aerostar operated the DC-6 starting in late 1947. It was the first Aerostar aircraft to be ordered directly from the manufacturer. The DC-6 allowed the airline to operate a daily flight to Dallas through Yakima, Boise, Salt Lake City, Grand Junction, Albuquerque, and Lubbock. While the airline had a route to Dallas previously, the DC-6 offered a range and speed boost over the DC-4. Aerostar operated both the DC-6A and the DC-6B. The DC-6B offered a stretched fuselage and a more powerful engine. These sleeper aircraft were loved by passengers and the Seattle-Dallas route was well known for being one of the most comfortable and scenic flights in the US. The DC-6 was phased out in 1961, being replaced by the Lockheed L-188 Electra on many routes and the Convair CV-990 Coronado on the Seattle-Dallas route.

Tail design on top feels a little too modern for the era
