Boeing 737-200 | PP-BIG

Boeing 737-200 | PP-BIG

Samba's first 737-200 arrived in Brazil in 1975, and the fleet quickly became the backbone of Samba's domestic network. The aircraft were common sights across the country, in the big hub cities of Rio and Sao Paulo, but also in the depths of the Amazon, operating out of bases in Belem, Brasilia, and Manaus. The aircraft were also the first jet aircraft to operate regularly in and out of Rio's Santos Dumont Airport, operating Samba's flights on the Ponte Aérea between Santos Dumont and Sao Paulo's Congonhas Airport in the late 1990s before being replaced by 737-300 aircraft. The last -200 left the fleet in 2005, and the last example now sits at the Samba Aviation Musem near Guarulhos International Airport.

Samba's Boeing 737-200 fleet served in a number of configurations but were retired in a configuration of 8 Business Class seats and 101 Economy Class seats.
