The Boeing 757 has been a vital part of the Aerostar fleet since its introduction in 1983. Originally intended to replace 727s, the 757 allowed the airline to operate with less frequency on larger routes, allowing gate room for other flights. In the post 2001 market, this aircraft would become extremely important in stopping the cash bleed and allowing the airline to maintain operations. The aircraft is slated to be retired in 2020, with no suitable replacement offered. Instead, 737 and 787 aircraft will try to fill the gap that it will leave in the Aerostar fleet.
